Business Pitching Session: ITPC Johannesburg and Export Center Balikpapan
9/8/2026
On the 13th of August, ITPC Johannesburg conducted a business pitching session in collaboration with Export Center Balikpapan, which facilitated the participation of three Indonesian companies seeking to explore potential business opportunities in the South African market. The session provided each participating company with an opportunity to introduce its products, business capabilities, and potential areas for cooperation with South African buyers and importers.
The three companies participating in the session were PT DJB Botanicals Indonesia, PT Nifa Indo Abadi, and Nest Home and Deco. PT DJB Botanicals Indonesia presented its range of botanical products, including kratom. While kratom remains a sensitive and potentially high-risk product due to regulatory considerations and the legal status of kratom in different markets, there appears to be existing commercial interest in South Africa, with importers already operating in this product segment. Therefore, the product may have potential in the South African market, subject to the relevant South African regulatory, customs, health, and import requirements being carefully assessed and complied with.
PT Nifa Indo Abadi presented its range of natural, handcrafted furniture, highlighting the use of natural materials and traditional craftsmanship in its products. The company's furniture offerings are aligned with growing interest in distinctive, handcrafted, and natural furniture products, making them potentially suitable for South African importers, retailers, interior designers, and businesses operating within the home and lifestyle sector.
Nest Home and Deco presented its collection of home décor products and natural fibre furniture. The company's focus on natural materials, decorative products, and furniture provides opportunities for positioning its products within the South African home décor, interior design, hospitality, and lifestyle markets. The products presented during the session demonstrated potential appeal to consumers and businesses seeking natural, sustainable, and handcrafted décor and furniture.
Overall, the business pitching session provided a valuable platform for the Indonesian companies to introduce their products directly and explore potential market opportunities in South Africa. The products presented by all three companies demonstrated potential for the South African market, particularly in the furniture, home décor, natural materials, and botanical product sectors. Further engagement with potential South African buyers and importers is recommended to assess commercial interest, product requirements, pricing, logistics, and applicable regulatory requirements. ITPC Johannesburg will continue to facilitate connections between the participating Indonesian companies and relevant South African business counterparts to support potential business cooperation and market entry.
